Bias is a blast.

Bias is something people don't want to admit, they also want to pretend it doesn't exist, and at times people can be so ignorant of bias that they risk being biased themselves.

One thing I've come to realize is that bias cannot be eliminated so long as we are able to think freely. Bias can be big, in the case of Conservatives and Liberals, or as small as Cardinals or cubs. Everyone has opinions, everyone plays favorites, and sometimes some of us play these two things alot more than we should.

One of the greastest examples of bias of all time is history itself. Someone said that History is written by the winners, and this is very true. History and the account if mankind is just one big bias written by those who have opinions, and those opinions often show through to this day. History sees things as "Good guys vs Bad guys", but that is those so called "Bad Guys" actually won? Would they still be all that bad, or would they write the history so that it was biased toward themselves?

I don't see bias as evil or bad, I just see it as someone else's opinion whether it is right of wrong. Who am I to call them biased? Wouldn't that make the bigot? Bias and opinion in my mind go hand in hand, and sometimes they are just too hard to distinguish.

We are all biased in one way or another. It is hard to admit at times but this is the truth. Or well that's my opinion. What about yours?

  1. This blog thing is worth it if only to get a glimpse into your awesomely fertile mind. I am glad you recognize what I am trying to teach...students need to cut through the bias to find the truth. Thank you for your thoughtful posts (but I think they are kind of biased). :P

  3. Your right history IS written by the winners, its the way it always has been and always will be. Also as you said this is a perfect example of our world full of bias. But to me bias is good and opinions are good for without them we have no identity.
